Highway
The highway system serving Shenandoah County directly includes Interstates I-81 and 66, U.S. Highway Route 11, and state primary routes 42, 263, and 55. Eleven trucking companies have routes through the County with terminals at Winchester and Harrisonburg.
Rail
Norfolk Southern and CSX Corporation provide rail service to the County.
Inland Port
Virginia’s Inland Port, 15 miles northeast of Strasburg (I-66), provides custom clearance and shuttle of ocean cargo (trailer and container) via Norfolk Southern Railroad to and from the Port of Hampton Roads.
Commercial Air
Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) is the principal cargo terminal serving Shenandoah County. IAD handles over 651 million pounds of cargo and over 129 million pounds of mail each year. It is one of the fastest growing airports, domestically and internationally, in the USA. The Shenandoah Valley Regional Airport at Weyers Cave provides connection service to the Baltimore-Washington International and Dulles International Airports.
Airports are located in Bayse (2,400 foot paved runway), New Market (3,047 foot paved runway), and Winchester Regional Airport (5,500 foot paved runway).
